Closing Ceremony

Brazilian Delegation feels very proud to have organized this CISM Military World Championship, which is now coming to an end.

As Chief of the Brazilian Delegation to CISM it is my pleasure and honour to address you at the end of the 30th World Military Volleyball Championship.

As all of you know one of the most important aims of CISM is to develop friendly relations and friendship between the Armed Forces of member nations. The first article of its regulations states that CISM wants to bring together soldiers from all continents onto the sports-field, instead of the battlefield, in order to contribute towards universal peace.

We are extremely proud of our achievements now that this Championship is over.

The delegations that took part in this championship presented a high standard performance and the fair-play which emphasizes the CISM aim to promote “Friendship Through Sports”.

We would also like to congratulate the Organizing Committee and all the military and civilian staff for their effort and dedication which contributed towards the success of this Competition.

We are especially grateful to the Ministry of Sports, to the State Government, to the Rio de Janeiro Town Hall and to the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation for their unlimited support in all instances.

Volleyball is the team sport that most clearly enhances teamwork and the importance of working together towards an aim, since all players depend on each other to score a point.

In this spirit we, the Brazilian Delegation and all the other military and civilian Brazilian Organizations are working together in order to keep our commitment to organize the 5th CISM Military World Games – The CISM Peace Games in the best possible manner.

Finally, I hope that your stay in Rio de Janeiro was a pleasant experience and the you carry home in your hearts fond memories.

We wish you a safe trip back to your homes.
